Arizona Lakes

A scenically diverse state this desert southwest region certainly has enough gorgeous landscape to attract people from all over the world to visit. There are a lot of man-made lakes but there are also a number of natural lakes that attract anglers, boaters, jet skiers, swimmers or those that just want to camp on the banks, hike along a lakeside trail or sit and just to enjoy the scenery. Due to the dry climate many of the lakes are seasonal and have periods of time throughout the year when they do not contain water.

Southern Arizona Lakes

Due to the warm climate most southern Arizona lakes are man-made lakes, which are stocked with fish at intervals throughout the year. Due to the dry climate it is not easy for a natural lake to maintain a level that would be full enough to sustain any type of flourishing life. Silverbell, Sahuarita, Lakeside and Kennedy Lakes are urban manmade lakes in Tucson. They are good fishing destinations that can count, Large Mouth Bass, Rainbow Trout, Crappie and Sunfish among their inhabitants. They are relatively small lakes and are limited in the number of aquatic activities that are allowed.

There are several man-made lakes that can be found in campgrounds throughout Tucson, for example: Lake Arivica
