Democratic Representative Gabrielle Giffords was today critically shot at point blank range in the head, at her first event for the year, a ‘Congress on Your Corner’ meeting she was holding in a supermarket in Tucson, Arizona. She was rushed to Tucson’s University Medical center after the shooting and is now recovering following emergency surgery. Participating surgeon has expressed optimism for her recovery.
